Things to watch in your industry

  • RBI, SEBI and IRDAI rules may add requirements beyond DPDP. Have sector counsel review this template before use.

Guidance for your team, not legal advice.

Systems that need to hear about changes

When someone withdraws or asks for erasure, these are the places their data usually lives. Connect the ones we support; the rest go on a checklist for your team.

  • CRM
  • KYC / e-sign provider
  • Partner portals (banks, insurers, AMCs)
  • Credit bureau access
  • WhatsApp Business
  • Accounting software

Records you may have to keep

An erasure request does not override a legal duty to keep some records. Your team picks the reason, and the person is told which records stay and why.

  • KYC records

Financial services must keep identity (KYC) records for a period after your account closes.

  • Insurance claim records

Records sent to your insurer or TPA for a claim must be kept while the claim and any review of it are open.

  • Invoices and accounts

We must keep invoices and payment records for tax purposes. We keep only what the bill needs.

  • Open dispute or legal claim

Some records must be kept while a dispute, complaint or legal claim is open.
